Red & Black
2022
These images depict completely imagined spaces populated by detritus that I had collected by the railroad tracks. Every hunk of rusted metal was carefully inspected and photographed as if it was a rare artifact of some lost civilization. Behind their floating forms heavily transformed images of elements such as leaves, bark, and sticks provide an environment that both contrasts with and connects to the objects’ origins. Any distinction between the natural and industrial worlds is thus blurred presenting the remnants of each as inhabitants of the same domain.
